For the second year in a row, members of the Carpenter Farraday team joined over 100 people from other local businesses to take part in the Brighton Beach Clean for the Rockinghorse charity to help keep our surroundings clean and tidy.
The Rockinghorse Children’s Charity is one of the flagship charities Carpenter Farraday support, and the event aimed to helpe fund their brand-new specialist children’s healthcare Wellbeing Support Service based at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. The service will include a range of wellbeing activities such as sea swimming courses, art therapy, yoga sessions, and much more, available to children and families being treated at the hospital.
With our headquarters being in Brighton, the team will often enjoy the delights of the seafront on a sunny lunch break, or for an after work gathering but sadly it’s not unusual to see discarding cans, glass bottles and plastic rubbish left on the beach.
We jumped at the chance to join in their annual tidy up and support this important service and help keep our beach clean.
It was a very warm sunny day in June, and we were greeted by the smiling faces of the Rockinghorse staff at the Palace Pier who gave us our bin bags, gloves and litter pickers.
We had an hour to collect as much rubbish as we could, with the winning business receiving a gift voucher to use at The Ivy. Unfortunately, we didn’t win this year, but everyone had a great time, and it was a brilliant event raising money for the Rockinghorse’ new Wellbeing Service, keeping our environment clean and enjoying some team building.
Collectively the event raised an amazing £1,200 and a massive 60kg of rubbish was collected from the beach.
We are proud to help make a positive impact in the community whilst supporting a great cause.
